Sri-Lankans spread the word about this. The only way to change the current situation is by educating the younger people from falling victim to the traps of hate. If we can reach them before they learn the negative path, we can hope to reach a positive future at least (if we can't save today.) I elaborate more on my website http://www.DEVOSTATOR.com

The Hon.Prime Minister Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe has never struck me as unintelligent. He might lack the kind of verbose erudition that I have, and I don’t think he had ever read Das Capital. Neverthless, he is intelligent enough to understand all what I have to say. What I am saying is this: De-proscribe the LTTE immediately, forthwith. Once you do that, Mr.Prabhakaran (I hate to say Mr.Prabhakaran, but what to do, things have come to such a pass) will rush his boys to Thailand for talks. And whom do you send for talks. It must be a bi-partisan team, not just your UNP chaps. As much as Murali is the best bowler on the Sinhala side, Kadigama is the best batsman on our side. Let him head the team. I am not saying that I will be unavailable, but if The Hon.Prime Minister asks me the proper way, I am prepared to place my powerful intellect at the service of the Sinhala nation. Although I am the not-so-distinguished son of a distinguished journalist I have a claim to fame that my father did not have. I was the only Sinhalese cabinet minister in the IPKF appointed Varatharaja Perumal government of the north-east of 1987. You all remember the Perumal, don’t you? He was the only courageous Tamil to declare Tamil Eelam, the kind of courage that this so-called big shot Prabhakaran still does not have the courage to do, Pooh! Am I not therefore proud of the fact that my government (that is my leader Perumal’s socialist government) was the only government to declare Tamil Eelam. As for setting up an interim administration for the north-east, it would be fatal to hand over the monopoly to the LTTE. I insist that the EPRLF, the Perumal faction, not the other one, should also be included in its composition. Whether it is the team for the talks or the interim administration both must have an organic component, by which I mean myself

Pathmanathan Rajathuarai President Chandrika takes New York by storm President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga’s recent visit to New York has been hailed as the most eventful thing to have happened to that city since the fall of the twin towers. The New York Times for example devoted twenty two columns of space for her speech at the United Nations where she pointedly condemned the LTTE and its leader Mr.Prabhakaran. Her description of Mr.Prabhakaran as “ten times worse than Osama Bin Laden” during the lunch hour session that was greeted with standing applause by the two delegates who were present during her speech. Her UN speech was followed by a hard-hitting interview she gave Zain Verjee of CNN. Daily Liar takes pride in giving its readers some exclusive excerpts from that interview: President Kumaratunga, thank you for being on Q&A, we appreciate it. My first question to you, do you support P.M. Ranil Wickremasinghe’s efforts towards peace? Who is this Ranil Wickremasinghe? I am President of Sri Lanka, Head of State, head of government, commander-in-chief of the armed forces. I can sack this Wickremasinghe tomorrow if I want to. Anyway, it was I who started the war for peace seven years ago, and my whole intention was to end the war… Madam, may I interrupt. I accept your good intentions. But has not Mr.Wickremasinghe’s strategy for peace succeeded whereas yours could not. It is not that Wickremasinghe’s strategy has succeeded. It is Prabhakaran’s strategy that has succeeded. You don’t know about that man. He has killed millions of his own Tamils, whereas my mother Srimavo killed only about twenty thousand Sinhalese during the 1971 insurgency. Do you know that he killed the Prime Ministers of India and the Presidents of India and so many thousands of others… Which President of India did he kill Madam? Well, eh.. I can’t remember all the names , you know Presidents like Rajendra Prasad, Venkatraman and so on…. But I think ex-President Venkatraman is still living, Madam. What do you mean, how can he be living when Prabhakaran has already killed him? OK madam, ok, ok, let us get on to my second question. You roundly condemned in your UN speech what you referred to as child soldiers of the LTTE. What is your motive in your talking of child soldiers at this point of time when the peace process is succeeding and the LTTE leader had faced the international media. Are you trying to sabotage Mr.Wickremasinghe’s peace process? Absolute nonsense. Who says so? I only spoke in general terms about the poor children in this world. It is Kadigama who wanted me to talk of child soldiers. Who is Kadigama, madam? He is my political adviser. Do you know that my political adviser is a Tamil. He is such a knowledgeable fellow. He wants to be Secretary General of UN one day. He knows everything and follows me wherever I go…you know about Mary and her little lamb (laughs) Madam, let us get back to serious issues. You keep harping on the LTTE’s child soldiers. Do you mean to say, as commander-in-chief of the armed forces that your army, navy and air force are unable to fight mere children and unable to win the war? Who says I cannot win the war. I have some of the best generals in the world, fellows like Daluwatte, Balagalle … American-trained and all that …of course my poor uncle Ratwatte is in jail now, all part of the UNP conspiracy… Let us not deviate from the subject Madam. We were on the subject of child soldiers. Do you mean to say that these child soldiers kept on overrunning all your army camps. They overran Mullaitivu. They overran Kilinochchi, they overran Elephant Pass…and your American-trained generals are unable to fight these children? I don’t know about that. It is Kadigama who wanted me to…. I am only saying I am sorry for Tamil children. They are badly under-nourished, despite my sending all the food, medicines that they needed. But Prabhakaran took all that. As a mother of two children myself, I spoke in the UN assembly about children in general. What is wrong about that? Madam, my time is limited, let us not ramble on… My children tell me, Ammay please quit politics, Ammay please quit politics. To think that my father was killed, my husband was killed, I was nearly killed ……… It is all Prabhakaran’s work…… (sobs). Madam, you mustn’t cry. This is CNN. People are watching. Anyway, if your children keep on appealing to you to give up politics, why don’t you do so? How can I? The poor Sinhalese people need the Bandaranaikes. We were born to rule the country. That silly goose of my acca Sunethra keeps dabbling in music, drama and all that nonsense. My little mallo Anura is of course there. Till we die or till we get killed the Bandaranaikes have to go on ruling the country…. Madam, I’m sorry I have to stop you there. I have exhausted the time given, thank you for your valuable comments

Miracle on Vesak Night ! DUTUGEMUNU’S STATUE SPEAKS ! A miraculous happening occurred at the holy city of Anuradhapura last Vesak night. Nearly twenty-five witnesses who were present and who were stunned by what happened decided to hush it up. They took an oath that it should never be known to the rest of the country. However, one of them who happened to be carrying a tape recorder in his closed bag found to his amazement when he reached home that every word of what happened had been recorded in it without his knowledge. He was so awe-struck that he decided to hand over the entire tape to Daily Liar. The identity of our source will not be revealed for reasons of confidentiality. But we present to our readers the entire transcript. Read on… It all happened when about two hundred Sinhala Buddhist patriots under the leadership of Ven.Elle Gunawansa Thera decided to take an oath on Vesak night 2002 in front of the statue of the warrior king Dutugemunu at Anuradhapura. Having assembled at the holy city, they first held an “Adhistana Pooja” and then marched from the Sinha Kuluna (Lion Tower) to the Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanveli Seya. The Vesak Full Moon seemed to shine with extraordinary splendour that night as the party stood in respectful silence before the statue. It was the Ven.Gunawansa Thera who addressed the statue. “Oh dear Prince Dutta Gamini, warrior-king, saviour of the Sinhala race, vanquisher of the Damilas , we the two hundred full-blooded Sinhala Buddhists assembled here before you have come here so that you, our dear Sinhala saviour, may witness the sacred oath we are about to take. We the two hundred who represent the millions of Sinhala patriots in this country do hereby resolve that we shall leave no stone unturned until – 1. The Sinhala race is protected from alien elements such as the Damila Tigers and the Norwegians. 2. Jaffna and the entire north is reoccupied by Sinhala men and women 3. The unitary constitution that the British rulers gave us in 1833 is preserved 4. Prabhakaran and his hordes are wiped out in battle. 5. Buddhism reigns supreme all over this land hallowed by the visit of the Buddha. These Oh King, is our Pancha Sheela. We beseech you to bless us and give us courage. Tired by the long march, about twenty five of them decided to lie down there itself and go to sleep under the soothing light of the full moon. Ven.Gunawansa Thera and the rest had meanwhile left. It was some eerie sound that first startled those who were sleeping. It was close on midnight. The earth beneath them appeared to be shaking. Surely it could not be an earthquake? Sri Lanka had never known one in 2500 years? They then heard a voice, a strange voice. It seemed to be coming from nowhere. Astonished, they all sat up. There was no mistaking it, it was Dutugemunu’s statue that spoke!!! Miracle of miracles!! They stood up in utter disbelief, unable to believe their ears…. “My dear children”, said the statue, “it is two thousand years since I left this ground where you stand now. Haven’t you learnt anything at all these two thousand years? Are you such poor learners? “Dutta” means wicked. Who named me Dutta Gamini? Not the Damilas. You Sinhala Buddhists did. Of course you were right. I was wicked. My father was known as Kakkavanna Tissa, because he was as dark-skinned as the colour of a crow –( Kakka-Crow, Vanna-Colour) but he was a wise man, a man of Peace. He never wanted to grab another man’s land. When he told me:” Son, don’t go to fight the Damilas. The region on this side of the river (Mahaveli) is enough”. Do you remember what I did? Have you forgotten the Mahavamsa? The trouble with you, my children, is that you have a genius for forgetting the few good things said in the Mahavamsa and hang on to the many stupid things that are written there. What did I do to my father who gave me good advice? Thrice he forbade me, and thrice I stood my ground. Not only did I disobey him, but I also insulted him. I said: “If my father were a man, he would not speak thus: therefore shall he put this on”. And therewith I sent him a woman’s ornament. Wasn’t that wicked? That is why your Sinhala forefathers named me Dutthagamani. “In your feelings of hatred for the Damilas, you had forgotten what your own Mahavamsa said about the Damila king Ellalan, whom you called Elara .Did he not rule the whole country for “forty four years, with even justice toward friend and foe, on occasions of disputes of law”? It was against this noble, just ruler that I went to war in order to pursue my grand ambition. I made the rivers turn red with the blood of thousands and thousands of human beings. I, a virile young man, challenged the aged Elara to single combat. How old was he then, seventy? Was that an act of courage? But I slew him. But, children, in the hour of victory, I became repentant. I myself organised the funeral rites of that great ruler. On the spot where Elara’s body was fallen, I had it placed in a catafalque, a decorated bier, and I lit the fire. And there did I build a monument and ordained worship. For nearly these two thousand years princes or people, passed this way in complete silence. But what did your recent foolish politicians and archaelogists do. In the hatred in their hearts they obliterated all signs of this monument, the very monument, I, Dutugemunu caused to be built. Having defied me, why do you keep invoking my name for your own politics of hatred? Two thousand years after my death, today, I am not the same Dutugemunu you think I am. You are in for a big surprise, my children. A very big surprise! The twenty five witnesses to these miraculous words held their breath and stood in dazed silence. Were they dreaming? It cannot be. The Vesak moon continued to bathe the statue in a strange ethereal light. The statue continued to speak – “A man’s life, dear children, is only a single footprint on the sands of time. Once he is released from a corporeal world, he moves on to another. In our Buddhist belief of samsara, only a few can become arahats and be released from future births. Sinners like me who caused the “destruction of millions (of beings”) as your Mahavamsa says, and helped to promote hatred against the Damilas are destined to be born and born again and again. Within these two thousand years I have gone through repeated births and deaths, as humans, as animals, as vermin,…… Now I have taken human birth again. Do you know, my children, I am now living among you….. At this, an overpowering sense of shock seized many of the listeners, and some of them lost consciousness. The few who were able to keep their senses continued to listen. “It does not surprise me that some of you are unable to contain your emotions. You, who call yourselves true Buddhists and Sinhala patriots are mistaken in your beliefs. You do not understand Buddhism and you do not even realise that Tamil blood flows in your veins. Does that surprise you? You have been living in a state of self-deception, my dear children. I am born here now for the purpose of taking the blinkers off your eyes…You may see in me only a statue, but do you know that I am now a human being living in this Dhammadeepa of yours and whose name is known to all of you…. Hearing these words, one of the listeners could not contain himself any longer. “Oh dear king, tell us, tell us who you are”, he shouted at the statue. “Be patient, dear son. I have been living here in your Sri Lanka for two score and eight years now. You know me, of course you know me. My name is Prabhakaran. Velupillai Prabhakaran…….. The next morning, some tourists who happened to be visiting Anuradhapura saw a strange sight. About twenty-five men looking dazed, lay stretched at the foot of Dutugemunu’s statue. All of them seemed to have lost their power of speech. Fist aid was quickly summoned, but no sooner they were revived they hurried away from the spot and were seen getting into an excited huddle. One of them was seen carrying a travel bag which contained a tape recorder … email: info@dailyliar.com © Daily Liar.com. All rights reserved.

Blame Game: Can Norway ensure implementation of the ceasefire? The Norwegian peace initiative is in the doldrums. The unnecessarily much hyped direct talks between the Sri Lankan government and the Liberation Tigers are not going to occur in June. In fact, they are not expected anytime soon as all actors now acknowledge. The reasons are starkly simple. Firstly, and most immediately, Sri Lanka has reneged on its written pledge to restore normalcy in the Tamil areas by demilitarising the region. Secondly, it abandoned the phased approach to resolving one of the world's most intractable conflicts and alarmingly gone for broke: instead of seeking an interim solution the approach which had been accepted by all involved as the best, indeed the only viable one the government about turned and said 'core issues' must be discussed at once. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's subsequent vague statements suggesting the interim administration was back on the cards have decidedly failed to allay the now intense suspicion among Tamils that Colombo is pursuing a duplicitous strategy through the Norwegian peace initiative

While Srilanka Talking or Pretending Peace, as usual preparing for more WAR and misery for the benefit of arms merchants and corrupted Sinhala Politicians and Monk(ey)s. MP lists occupied temples and schools in Batticaloa Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Mr.Jospeh Pararajasingham Friday sent a list of places of worship, schools and public buildings now being occupied by the Sri lankan armed forces in the Batticaloa district to the Prime Minister. According to the list, 8 schools, 5 temples and several public buildings in Batticaloa are either occupied by government forces or situated within the perimeter of their camps. The MP said that he faxed the list Friday morning on a request made by the Prime Minister. According to the list, the following schools are occupied by the Sri Lankan armed forces. 1. Pilliayaradi Government Tamil Mixed School (GTMS) -occupied by the Sri Lankan Army(SLA). 2. Morokottanchcenai Ramakrishna Vidiyalyam -occupied by the SLA. 3. Periyakallar Government Tamil Mixed School- occupied by Police. 4. Puthur Sithy Vinayagar Vidyalyam -situated within the perimeter of the Sri Lankan Air Force(SLAF) base. 5. Valaiyiravu M.M.T.M.S. - situated within the perimeter of the SLAF base. 6. Kommathurai Vinayagar Vidiyalyam - situated within the perimeter of SLA base. 7. Mandoor 13th colony Tamil School - situated within the perimeter of the Special Task Forces (STF) camp. 8. Cheddipalayam Maha Vidiyalyam - the STF maintains a camp in front of the school, denying free access to the students. Chenkalady Sri Sithy Vinayagar Temple. (Photo: TamilNet) Mr. Pararajasingham's letter to the PM provides more details of the situation in each of the temples and schools. Although the SLA has withdrawn weapons from Kommanthurai Sri Devi Temple and Kommanthurai Sri Sithy Vinayagar Temple, both are within the SLA controlled area. Devotees cannot go to these temples for worship as the main road is blocked by the SLA. Though the STF has withdrawn from the Kurumanvely Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple, the boundary wall of it is covered with barbed wire. One of the gates of this temple has been pried open. As the STF still occupies the adjoining Pachiamman temple and the Mariamman temple --the former being used as a canteen and the latter as a store by the STF --there is no freedom of access to the devotees. The SLA has withdrawn totally from the Mamangam Pilliayar temple, but it has pitched a camp in front of the temple, causing inconvenience to the devotees. The Puthur Sithy Vinayagar Temple falls within the perimeter of the SLAF base, and free access is denied to devotees. The SLA still occupies the Batticaloa YMHA (Young Men's Hindu Association) building. According to the list sent by Mr.Mr.Jospeh Pararajasingham, the SLA occupies following public buildings in Batticaloa: 1. Municipal Council building 2. Town Hall 3. Rest House 4. Webber stadium 5. Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Local Government in the Batticaloa town 6. Agricultural service building in Kaluwanchchikudy. 7. Railway station (occupied by the Sri Lanka Police).

FIFTYTHREE years of mayhem - MASSACRES of innocent civilians, men, women and children in their hundreds and thousands in cold blood in the name of ethnic cleansing and not for any known crime they had committed. The most-wanted men still in Lanka and recognised as the officers of the most brutal terrorist military in the world, the whole Srilankan Military(and the skinhead terrorists in robes) comes before the world by pretending they stopped ETHNIC CLEANSING for a media propagandist global to get the ailing economy repaired to get enough money to kill even more Tamils, Muslims and Christians. Budhism .. and Its Greek Antecedents I do not know whether these thoughts of mine are original (it is possible they are shared by a great many people, but have not been given clear utterance). I happen to believe budhism has a Grecian input. Mixing metaphors, it may even be possible to say: `There are are `Greek genes' in budhism' - no disrespect intended or implied. There are those who say budhism derives from hinduism - why not then some inputs also from the disciplined and rational Greek philosophers of that time (and earlier). Alexander and his legions marched into northern India, and left a lasting impression on the minds and habits of people of those regions - this was only a few centuries before the birth of Prince Sidhartha (the future Budha). The dress (robes) worn by budhist priests of the present day, is not very different to the Toga, worn by free-men of ancient Greece & Rome. I sometimes think, the kind of teaching (dialogue) that took place between the Budha, and those whom he wished to convince was not unlike the philosophical discourses & dialogues between teachers like Plato, Socrates and their followers. The reasoned arguments of the Budha (for Tolerance, Compassion .., his insights on Life, and the nature of Continuity - which other religious leaders have chosen to identify with GOD), had they occured say in ancient Greece, would have been received with great respect, studied and analysed by `free' people - and perhaps incorporated into their belief-systems & daily lives, but it may not have been as a religion. With its emergence as a religion, administered by a priest-hood - which ensured the continuity of the noble ideals propounded by the Budha, a lot of un-necessary ritual was also tagged-on. Understanding and Conviction is the ideal, but if that is not possible, the lower step must be belief in a wholesome Coda of Conduct (Religion), and that is how we seem to have it in Sri Lanka (also in other budhist countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Laos etc). I truly believe, budhism contains within it the coda for behaviour - for intelligent beings, every-where. Hope these observations do not offend those who hold traditional views on this subject

What we need is a quick amendment to relevant rules, to permit parliamentarians to cross over - so that a working majority can be fielded by one of the major parties. A ruling of that kind will have meaning, if we have good men (able/up-right) coming up for election, and our voters have the stength of mind to vote for the man (or woman), rather than for the party. We may not have advanced to that stage, yet. I suppose we are heading for another `grid-lock'.. more in-decision, and stagnation. Is that what we are in for ?
