Another reply to D.Manoharan on 'WHY TAMILS NEED OTHERS APPROVAL etc
Dr Eric Wimalaweera:
I too wish to reply D.Manoharan on his article titled ‘WHY TAMILS NEED
OTHERS APPROVAL / AUTHORISATION TO MANAGE THEIR DAY TO DAY ISSUES IN NORTH
EAST !’.
He claims, ‘When suddas left Tamils were the majority in east until they
were chased away by the UNP / SLFP Governments’. This is a total fabrication
of the truth. Tamils have never been a majority in the East or ruled any
part of the East of Sri Lanka. Never means never at all.

When did Dr Jayalath Jayawardena become a professor
Suneth Sumanasiri:
An extract from a news item published on yesterday's (21/11/2002) Daily
News paper is as follows:
'An estimated 220,726 internally displaced persons have returned, relocated,
or have been in transit during the past nine months Rehabilitation,
Resettlement and Refugees Minister Prof. Jayalath Jayawardena said.'
I wonder when did the minister become a professor? Which university awarded
him a professorship? Was it a University in Wanni, or in Tim Buck Too ?

Opinion on "Was a bribe used to change Maha Nayaka View, asks scholar monk"
Ananda Samaraweera:
I completely agree with Nimal Rajakaruna. The state of the Sangha is a disgrace. When did anyone last see a Mahanayake on almsround? What would the Buddha have said about all this amassing of power, money, wealth, land, cars and political influence? Full Storry

Opinion on "Was a bribe used to change Maha Nayaka View, asks scholar monk"
Nimal Rajakaruna:
I totally agree with Bodhipala Wijesinghe. During my recent visit to
Sri Lanka, I was amazed to see how the Mahanayakes of both Malwaththa
and Asgiriya chapters as well as the Nayakes of the Kotte chapter (as
identified by many now a days) who used to protest the Chandrika’s
package as well as many such acts in the past to divide the country
have changed their attitudes now.

Opinion on "Was a bribe used to change Maha Nayaka View, asks scholar monk"
Bodipala Wijeyesinghe:
In my opinion YES it would be so.
What else would it be? either a Bribe or a promise of kothamali when the
Mahanayaka is sick. To be sent by Helicopter from Colombo
Premadasa did so. Ranil may have said the same
Does it matter to Mahanayaka if Kandy Maligawa is the head quarters of
Kuppathambi Kovil?
Not been unkind but he will be long dead and gone. So why worry?
I think we need a better person to head our Buddhist population.
Rata Jathiya and Argama are three areas that need his leadership and protection
It would appear the Present Mahanayaka have of Asgiriya and Malwatta has
surrendered all three?

'Devolution of Power', a panacea or rubbish?
Dr Eric Wimalaweera:
The word ‘devolution of power’ has been uttered so many times in the past
and present in seeking a solution to the national question of Sri Lanka.
Those who advocate for such devolution are considered as pundits, socialists
or ’manava hithavadiyas’ where as all those who endeavour to point out that
any further devolution of power in Sri Lanka would lead to separation are
deliberately ignored.

A majority of the population in Sri Lanka are thinking in the following
lines;
Lyon Perera:
(i) The war has stopped. Negotiations are being done with the LTTE. At least
one thousand lives are saved per month.
(ii) Tamils have to be given some thing (devolution of power). It is the
LTTE, which was fighting, and therefore whatever is given to the Tamils has
to be given through the LTTE as war will not stop otherwise.

Did the General really mean what he said?
Or is he looking for a job from Ranil
Bodipala Wijeyesinghe:
I hope the General Ranatuga did not really mean what he said.
If a simple sorry would solve the issues? Then we have no hope.
I think this lot should be hung or put away for life.
Did the General really mean what he said?
Or is he looking for a job from Ranil. The UNF-LTTE Prime Minister.
General,
Tell your story to the parents whose children were beheaded by the LTTE mob
Preach your compassion to the dependants of the men you led to be killed by
this terrorist group

the heading ‘Nalin, Champika and Prabhakaran
Lyon Perera:
I thought of writing a reply to Dr Vickramabahu Karunarathne’s article with
the heading ‘Nalin, Champika and Prabhakaran’ as it contains absurd attempts
to justify separation, terrorism as well as the Tamil homeland concept. With
gratitude to JVP leader Mr Somawansa Amarasinghe ,I must say that I have
used most valuable points in his replies on the National issue through Lanka
Academic in this connection.
