President declines meeting Helgesen! October 24 Lankatruth: The President has avoided meeting Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Vidar Hselgesen informing that she was too occupied in other matters. A very reliable source informs ?Lankatruth? that the President intentionally refrained from meeting Mr. Helgesen who was to meet the President at 7.00 p.m. this evening. The President, who had avoided meeting Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, had done so as the Norwegian agents had opted to establish the Joint Task Force for the North and the East without consulting her just as they acted to implement the cease-fire agreement earlier and also arranging this meeting after having finalised everything with Velupillai Prabhakaran. The sources also indicate that the meeting had been arranged to take place only an hour before Mr. Helgesen left and it indicates that their aim was not to consult the President but only to inform her of what decisions they had taken. Our sources also indicate that the President is critical about Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse, the Leader of the Opposition meeting the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister without consulting her.
