UNP politicians responsible for Maligawatte
incidents must be arrested - JVP November 02 Island: The tragic incidents at Maligawatte are highly condemned and the UNP politicians responsible for this incident must be arrested forthwith, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna said in a press release yesterday. It is a known fact among residents of Maligawatte that the UNP politicians were behind the clashes between the Sinhala and Muslims in the area. The incidents had occurred due to certain ministers of the government proclaiming that a Muslim religious school shall be opened. It is this pledge that had flared up into a fight between the Sinhala and Muslims.
