WHILE MUSLIMS SENTIMENTS LED TO A CRISIS IN THE GOVERNMENT THE LTTE ABDUCTS FIRE WOOD COLLECTORS TO BE RELEASED LATER

While the LTTE leadership still attempting to control the Muslims in the East through cabinet minister Rauff Hakeem , whose political party is in crisis due to his Tiger connections cadres of the LTTE stepped up it campaign to extort from the Muslims.

Armed LTTE cadres abducted six Muslim firewood collectors from the jungle at gun point , October 14, one of them who managed to escape later from the LTTE detention told Welikanda Police.

Nine Muslim MP’s , members of the Sri lanka Muslim Congress at present are boycotting parliament protesting against certain stands taken by their leader, close to the terrorist group the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Their leader Rauff Hakeem has signed an agreement recognizing terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran as the sole representative of the Tamil Eelam. In return Prabhakaran recognizes Rauf Hakeem as the sole representative of the Muslim people. Despite the agreement that promised security to the Muslims LTTE cadres recently killed 23 unarmed Muslims civilians during a LTTE-Muslim ethnic violence.

The boycott of the Muslim MP’s has created a terminal crisis in the coalition government led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The complaint made at the Police said the Moslem firewood collectors were abducted while lunching in the jungle in an area called Ransaratenne about 2.45 p.m. with their bullock carts.

According to Nizar Mohamed who later escaped from the terrorist detention said four armed LTTE cadres started firing in to the air when the Muslims started running.

The LTTE armed cadres carrying automatic weapons and hand grenades then abducted all of them with their bullock carts used to collect fire wood.

One who later escaped arrived at the Nagastenne army detachment seeking security. The victim was later handed over to the Welikanda Police.

The Sri Lanka government of Ranil Wickremesinghe who has signed a memorandum of Understanding with the terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran has refused to militarily get involved when Muslim and Sinhala civilians were abducted in the past. They complain that they live at the mercy of the Tamil Tigers.

While the LTTE later released the five detained they kept the bullock carts for their own use, those who released alleged,. (EOM)
