| A MEETING TO OFFER GRATITUTDE |

The meeting between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and LTTE
Chief Negotiator Anton Balasingham in Oslo has been hailed as a historic one
since this was the first time the two leaders met. Ranil Wickremesinghe
who had been earlier described as a failure in politics was finally able to
capture power at the last general elections due to a pre-election secret pact reached
between his special emissary, Milinda Moragoda and Anton Balasingham
in London, a pro-LTTE newspaper Suderoli revealed recently. So, the
UNF sources also hailed the historic meeting between the two leaders
as a meeting to offer gratitude. Since it was the secret pact that put Ranil’s UNF
in power Anton Balasingham is now considered a king maker, with considerable influence in the Tamil Tiger circles even going beyond that of Prabhakaran.
