TAMIL TIGERS AGAIN ABDUCTED FIVE YOUNG STUDENTS AND SENT THEM TO MILITARY TRAINING AGAINST THEIR WISHES ,SAY PARENTS

By Walter Jayawardhana reporting from Los Angeles
Tamil parents of five young students complained to the Eravur Police that their sons had been abducted by the terrorists of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam while the students were sight seeing the raging waters of a flood devastating the Eastern Province December 18.

The students, one from the Eastern University Wandaramulai, Batticaloa and the other four from Batticaloa ‘S Technical College were snatched away with their bicycles and when the parents approached the LTTE office at Tannamunai to rescue their children the LTTE was ready to return only the bicycles, the parents told Eravur police.

The young students, who were in the ages between 18 to 22 went on bicycles to sight see the flood waters devastating the Eastern Province when they were abducted at gun point by the LTTE terrorists.

The LTTE authorities admitted that the young men had been sent to the LTTE camp at Tharavur for Military training but told the parents the five student had voluntarily joined the military service of the LTTE. Anyway, they said that they were ready only to return the bicycles belonging to the young men.

The parents appealed to the police to help find the abducted students.

According to the complaint to the Eravur police the students had been abducted at 5.45 p.m.on December 18 at a place called Mailambawa after armed LTTE recruiters approached them.

Jeevaratnam Dineshkan, Ganeshamoorthi Adinthan, Pakyaraja Prasad, Sivasuriyan Dayabaran and Jeevaratnam Sadeep were the five students allegedly abducted by the LTTE recruiters.

Though they are residents of government occupied areas , students have little hope of being rescued by the Sri lanka government since the Colombo administration would not raise a finger against the violations by the LTTE against SL government’s Tamil citizens.

The parents also appealed to the Norway led Ceasefire Monitoring Committee in Batticaloa to rescue their sons.

The OIC of the Eravur Police Harischandra Bandara said he would discuss with the security forces to see what could be done to rescue the students and return them to their parents. (EOM)
