May 04, 05:55 AM:The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was working hard to capture the harbor and city of Trincomalee alleged Dr. Sarath Amunugama, spokesman for the People’s Alliance (PA) at a press briefing in Colombo.
The spokesman for Sri Lanka’s main opposition party said for the past few months the LTTE as one of its main strategic objectives was attacking unarmed Muslim civilians to drive them away from in and around the port city to achieve the terrorist group’s domination over the place.
Considered one of the most strategic harbors of the Indian Ocean it is believed the terrorist group is intending to use the port city as the capital of a separate state. There were 7000 refugees due to the attacks of the LTTE around the port city targeting Muslims, Dr, Amunugama said.
Since the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is the only terrorist group allowed by law under the Ranil Wickremesinghe government’s ceasefire agreement to carry arms the Muslims found themselves defenseless when the terrorists used fire power to kill and maim the unarmed Muslims while the security forces were instructed by the government not to intervene in the attacks
Independent reports said in the Muttur area , close to the port city murder and mayhem was used to attack unarmed Muslim civilians by the armed cadres of the LTTE.
While arson was used to scare them away women cadres of the Tamil terrorists , christened Freedom Birds by the founder, the Australian born Adele Balasingham, were robbing Muslim women of jewellery they were wearing. They also used Kerosene in large amounts to poison drinking water wells of the Muslim villages as a tactic not to allow the villagers from returning soon.
