SLMM TRAP TO OBTAIN NAVY ELECTRONIC LOGISTICS SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS TO SAVE THE COUNTRY SAYS DINESH

July 04.11.30 PM:The Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) in a special statement issued to the newspapers warned the nation that the Norway backed Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission was drawing the nation to a dangerous trap by trying to make electronic logistics of the Sri Lanka Navy available to them.
The MEP warning signed by the party’s leader and former minister of the People’s Alliance government Dinesh Gunawardena said this move was fraught with the greatest danger to the nation of Sri Lanka.
Pointing out that it was unlawful and therefore it was prohibited to furnish confidential logistic or otherwise to be released to outside institution or country the MEP statement said this move would give access to sensitive security set up of which the navy was a pivotal arm.
The statement categorically said , “In view of the questionable partisan conduct of the SLMM so far in the purported implementation of the MOU, if these logistics were made available to them invariably they would reach the hands of the LTTE, a separatist terrorist organization avowed to divide our motherland.”
The partner of the opposition People’s Alliance , the MEP charged the move by the Norway backed SLMM was a well studied move to cripple the Sri Lanka Navy that heroically defended the sovereignty of our country. The statement further pointed out that the Navy was the force that prevented the LTTE from bringing in arms , ammunitions and explosives as they wished.
Recalling that the SLMM was once attempting to demarcate Sri Lanka’s sovereign territory of the sea for the LTTE by providing sea lanes for the terrorist group the MEP said this was another way of reaching the same objectives.
Pointing out other ramifications the MEP said the move would endanger the security of India .
The MEP appealed to the UNF government not to agree to these demands by the LTTE and the SLMM and endanger the sovereignty ,territorial integrity and the defense of the nation.
