CIVILIAN POLITICAL OPPONENT OF PROXY POLITICAL PARTY OF TAMIL TIGERS FOUND HANGING FROM A TREE. POLICE SAY

March 05, 01.15 PM:Tamil Tiger assassins, for a moment turned away from the Karuna loyalists who had been tormenting them for the last few weeks, and returned to the killings of their civilian political opponents, those who worked against their proxy political party . the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) Police Sources in Jaffna said.
According to them, a supporter of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP), a coalition partner of the government, was hanged on a branch of a Banyan tree, in front of a Sri Ganesh Hindu Temple, in Nelliady area in the Jaffna peninsula, after killing him by slashing the throat.
Reports from Jaffna said, Victor alias Johnson Chandra Mohan (25) a resident of Karanavai, Karavetti , a father of 2 was found dead hanging from a tree with both his legs and hands tied behind. A man hailing from Trincomalee, he resided in Vadamarachchi area due to his marriage to Sangeetha, a resident of Karavetti.
Police suspect that that LTTE cadres who came in a white van, stopped the deceased while he was walking towards Nelliady, assaulted and kidnapped him in the van on June 3. He was found hanging from a tree a day later.
Police suspect that his kidnappers tormented him all night, and killed him by cutting his throat. He had been hanged thereafter, the sources said.
During the last general elections he was openly working for EPDP leader Douglas Devananda, who is a Minister in the government now. Earlier he had been a member of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) from which he reportedly resigned.
