LTTE REFUSES TO RETURN GOODWILL FOR DAYA MASTER
THE TERRORIST GROUP REFUSES TO SEND BANDUJEEVA HOME AS PROMISED AND DETAINS HIM UNTIL JULY 31
(By Walter Jayawardhana reporting from Los Angeles)
Breaking all promises that as a goodwill gesture for allowing Daya Master to receive treatment in the Apollo hospital in Colombo Sub Inspector Bandujeewa Bopitigoda will be released from their detention the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) further jailed him.
The terrorist group informed his brother who visited him in Kilinochchi that he would be further detained until July 31.
Bopitigoda’s brother who went to Kilinochchi with the expectation of taking him home was only allowed to talk to him for two hours and was later escorted to the Omanthai military check point by the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission.
Daya Master who handles LTTE propaganda, following a massive stroke was permitted to travel to Apollo Hospital, receive necessary medical treatment and diagnosis and allowed to return to the LTTE held area under heavy security that was provided by the government on the promise that Bandujeewa Bopitigoda would be released. The failure to release Bandujeewa has been described as a “despicable act” of the LTTE by the officials of the government who arranged for the exchange.
The LTTE, after Daya Master’s discharge from the hospital and return home played the trick on the government of not releasing their prisoner. Informed sources said that the LTTE was now demanding the release of five more of their terrorists in Sri Lankan jails for the return for Bandujeewa.
The recent extension of Bandujeewa’s detention even without producing him in one of their mock courts was the 35th time his incarceration was extended during the last 10 months since his arrest by the LTTE. Bandujeewa with few others went to Arippu in Mannar to arrest a British pedophile named Michael Smith who was hiding there under the LTTE protection when the police officer attached to the National Child Protection Agency was arrested. Two Christian priests, two other police officers attached to the National Child Protection Agency and four regular police officers were also arrested along Bandujeewa but they were later released. Many of them were released after the government agreed to release four LTTE terrorists from the jails, the Defense Ministry website said.
The LTTE came into conflict with the National Child Protection Agency following their investigations and subsequent arrest of Professor K. T. Ganeshalingam, a strong supporter of the Tamil Tigers, for the alleged rape of a 13 year old domestic servant. It was alleged the man who was also known as Pongu Ganeshalingam for his prominent role in the Pongu Tamil celebrations organized by the LTTE raped this minor girl 40 times.
The National Child Protection Agency was also investigating in to the cases of Swiss Pedophiles Thomas Caspar Wirtz and Armin Paffhauser who allegedly paid money to the LTTE boat men to escape to South India.
