HUNDREDS OF SRI LANKANS DEMONSTRATE AGAINST WHAT THEY CALLED THE US AGGRESSION IN LEBANON

Los Angeles:- Hundreds of people shouting anti-American and Israeli slogans protesting against the innocent civilians being killed by the Israel bombing marched from Bambalapitiya mosque to the US Embassy in kollupitiya but was stopped by the police using barricades at the Kollupitiya junction, eye witnesses said.
The protesters organized by the Muslim United Liberation Front started their demonstration after finishing the Friday services at the mosque and began their march but stopped from proceeding at a spot few yards away from the embassy by the police who had erected iron barricades closing the Galled Road reaching Colombo from the south.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers Mujiber Rahaman said the attack on the innocent civilians in Lebanon is actually being done by President Bush of the United States using Israel as his pawn.
Demonstrators carried placards which said White House is being used as the international terrorist headquarters of the world.
Speaking in support of the demonstration the leader of the Democratic Left Front, Vasudeva Nanayakkara said, the response to stop harassing of this imperialist aggression from the United nations has been a very luke warm one. But he said the world public opinion against imperialist United States is swelling all over the countries. He accused the stooges of the United States for supporting this aggression. But the just people all over the world regardless of the US might are collecting themselves against this most brutal inhumane and mindless aggression of the United States.
