ELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT MEMBER OF PARTY HEADED BY MINISTER DOUGLAS DEVANANDA IS ASSASSINATED BY LTTE TERRORISTS

Los Angeles:- The terrorists of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam shot dead another person linked with their main opposition Tamil party the Eelam People’s Democratic Party(EPDP), barely 12 hours before they gunned down the party leaders coordinating secretary.

The Tamil Tigers gunned down an elected member of a local government body in the Jaffna District belonging to the party headed by Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda.

The Police said suspected LTTE gun men assassinated Emily Janoos , a member of the local government body or Pradeshiya Sabha of Uoorkavaturai in Jaffna District.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam website, the Tamil Net , said Emily Janoos (58) was shot dead while he was riding a bicycle on the Kayts bridge, July 23 at 7.30 p.m..

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, started killing EPDP members with impunity as a result of the ceasefire agreement signed between Velupillai Prabhakaran and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The controversial agreement disarmed all Tamil groups while allowing only the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to bear arms. Since then all Tamil groups if they refused to come under the dictates of the LTTE have been subjected to assassinations.

EPDP is one group who agreed to give up arms and joined the mainstream politics. It remains the only Tamil political party of the Sri Lanka Tamils in the parliament opposed to the Fascist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Barely 12 hours later LTTE gun men assassinated S. Maha Kanapathypillai, the public relations man and coordinating secretary of Minister Douglas Devananda during the early hours of the morning when he was coming out after praying in a Hindu Kovil in Wellawatte, in front of the temple.
