DENIAL OF A PACT WITH LTTE AND AN INTERIM ADMINISTRATION RUN BY ONLY GOVT. OFFICIALS MADE PEOPLE TO PUT RANIL IN TO POWER

October 09, 10.15 AM:The Venerable Panditha Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero, the head of Colombo’s Sambodhi Viharaya said the UNF government managed to come to power because it denied a pre-election pact with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and publicly promised only an interim administration run by government bureaucrats and not by the LTTE would be allowed, but today both statements were found to be deliberate lies.
In an exclusive interview with the country’s leading weekly newspaper the Sunday Divaina the Venerable Kusaladhamma said despite the denials by the Ranil Wickremesinghe team publicly, the UNF had a pre-election pact with the Tamil Tigers and accordingly kept on working towards granting of an interim government to the LTTE and did not care two hoots about the rising anger and raging protests by the public across the country about handing over of an interim government of the Northern and Eastern Provinces to the rebel terrorist group.
The Venerable Kusaladhamma reminded that during the pre-election period credible news sources like the Hindu and the news weekly, Time revealed that there was such a pact between the two political groups.
Prior to this period the UNP was repeatedly getting defeated at elections. So, the LTTE promised to help the UNP to come to power and the UNP promised in return to help the LTTE to achieve its objectives. Everything, that was essential for a Tamil Eelam had been prepared during the last few months except official recognition and the granting of the Interim Government would give them the much needed official recognition, the Venerable Kusaladhamma said. The people in one voice were now protesting against it in mammoth protest marches and other means. But the government was only turning a deaf year to this most serious grievance, he charged.
Asked what could be the outcome of government’s refusal to listen to the public out cry to bury the UNF proposals for an interim government for the Eastern and Northern Provinces the Venerable Kusaladhamma said the result would be nothing else but a great disaster in the country. He said the people did not sacrifice their lives for more than twenty years to give an Eelam, a separate state, to the Tamil Tigers.
Accusing President Bush for dedicating himself to propagate Christian fundamentalism the world over using US state power Ranil Wickremesinghe government was doing everything to become the darling of the US government. Accusing a great amount of US money had been allocated for the propagation of Christian fundamentalism, the Venerable Kusaladhamma said to implement the Bush agenda had become the greatest ambition of many who were at the forefront of the UNF government.
The venerable Kusaladhamma further said, countries like Norway who were keen in preserving the Norwegian identity in that country with their brand of creed, was in the process of dividing the country of Sinhala Buddhists and make part of it into a Christian Tamil state. The Norwegians were shamelessly white washing Prabhakaran, one of the most ruthless terrorists who ever lived on this planet. On the sly, the so-called Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission was supporting the Tamil Tigers to divide the country, the Venerable Kusaladhamma charged.
Describing the great tragedy created by the US funded Christian fundamentalists so far in Sri Lanka, the Venerable Kusaladhamma said about twenty children had died since one sect of them refused to administer medicine to the sick and solely depended on prayers to their God to treat all ailments. At least in one case, the courts had ordered to exhume the body of a small child forced not to take medicine for faith healing, the Venerable Kusaladhamma said.
Describing the fundamentalists had been buying people by offering US money to proselytize the Venerable Kusaladhamma said both the Hindus and Buddhists had been made the victims of this program. In the North where there had been Hindu Kovils the fundamentalists had put up Christian Churches in order to convert.
While the Hindu religious Minister Maheshwaran was up in arms against these conversions bought with money W.J. M. Lokubandara, the man in charge of Buddhist Religious Affairs did not take any action to deal with the matter on a priority and urgent basis. He was very clever uttering sweet words to deceive the Buddhists and beating around the bush instead, the Venerable Kusaladhamma charged.
The Venerable Thero said in 2005 it would be 500 years since the Portuguese imperialist sailor Lorenzo de Alameda arrived in Sri Lanka accidentally. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had invited the current Portuguese Prime Minister to come to Sri Lanka to celebrate the occasion and he had also arranged various other ceremonies in connection with the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the Portuguese in the country who practiced the cruelest form of religious fanaticism for a century in the island nation. The Venerable Kusaladhamma said this was the greatest insult anybody had done on the Sinhalese Buddhists ever in the history of this island. He said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had no moral right to invite the Portuguese Prime Minister in to the country.
He said the Portuguese had destroyed innumerable number of Buddhist temples in the maritime areas of Sri Lanka and pillaged the temples of all their valuable property. He said the very Kelaniya Temple where Ranil Wickremesinghe himself was the President of the Dayaka Sabha now; the Portuguese had looted and set fire to destroy.
The Portuguese ship that carried the loot of gold ornaments from the Vishnu Devalaya at Devinuwara got destroyed in the midst of a sea storm, the Venerable Kusaladhamma said. He wondered why the arrival of Portuguese who destroyed the ancient religion of the land became a cause for a celebration for the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe
The Venerable Kusaladhamma said it had been reported that after a Vatican meeting it was decided to hold a great holy mass about the Portuguese arrival in the year 2005 to pray and re-dedicate Sri Lanka in the hands of the god.
Calling the arrival of the Portuguese as one of the most unholy ones that had happened in Sri Lanka the Venerable Kusaladhamma said instead of declaring this as a cause of celebrations the day should be made to a national day of mourning.
