January 12. 12.15 AM: An illegal court installed by the terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) further remanded the Sri Lanka Army Lance Corporal H.S. Nimal Kumara until January 23 when he was produced before a LTTE judge, T. Sendur.

Nimal Kumara was taken into custody when he wandered into a jungle close to his army camp, which the terrorist group claimed as their territory demarcated by the ceasefire agreement they signed with the Ranil Wickremesinghe.

A bogus LTTE lawyer was provided for his defense at the Kilinochchi court house But the LTTE “police” told the “judge” that Nimal Kumara’s incursion in to their territory was of a suspicious nature since he had told them once that he had gone picking wood apples and on another time that he had gone on hunting wild fowls.

They said his statements had been contradictory and therefore urged the “judge” to further remand him until further investigations.

The “judge” listening to the prosecution then remanded H.S. Nimal Kumara who was originally arrested on December 22.

Although the soldier had been seen in the same area before by the terrorists there had been no opposition shown to him.

Under the ceasefire agreement signed between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran areas were demarcated for the administration by the LTTE and the government of Sri lanka. Nimal Kumara was a soldier manning the forward defense line at Ranabapura in Welioya. The terrorists charged him for wandering in to the territory of “Eelam” by about half a mile bearing arms. (EOM)
