August 14.07.15 AM:From an improvised platform erected hastily just in front of the Norwegian Embassy in Ward Place Colombo Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna parliamentary group Wimal Weerawansa told nearly fifty thousand protestors that the JVP would even single handedly save Mother Lanka from the conspiracy of the Norwegians and Ranil Wickremesinghe to make her kneel down in front of the enemy, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Calling Norwegian special envoy Jon Westborg as the agent working hard to divide Sri Lanka Weerawansa pointing at the Norwegian Embassy said, “There lies the white tiger.”

Wimal Weerawansa told the Nordic peace brokers that the party would fight tooth and nail to defeat the secret plans of the Ranil Wickremesinghe government to bring in a Western military force to Sri Lanka in the guise of helping the peace brokers but to help the LTTE for a de-facto separation of the country.

The surprise rally in front of the Norwegian Embassy coincided with the arrival and stay of Norway’s special envoy Eric Solheim to have crisis talks with the Ranil Wickremesinghe administration and the LTTE. The JVP had earlier attacked Solheim for what they described as his blatant partiality to the LTTE.

Reports from Colombo said that thousands of black flag waving demonstrators started their noisy demonstration from Campbell Park and gradually marched through Deans Road, Lipton’s Circle and then to Ward Place. The JVP leaders held the meeting for nearly one hour.

But the JVP leaders hastily got on to the improvised platform and started addressing nearly fifty thousand protestors who now had assembled in front of the Royal Norwegian Embassy , the peace brokers of Sri Lanka , whom the JVP was accusing to be conspiring to bring in a Western military force to the Indian Ocean Republic, to do a de-facto separation of Sri Lanka.

Reports from Colombo said the organizers kept the Police guessing as to where the demonstration would finally arrive and it was a surprise for the Police when it reached at last in front of the Norwegian Embassy in Ward Place. Then the Police rushed to bring barbed wire rolls, water cannon machines and soldiers from the Special Task Force. But the JVP organizers carefully avoided a clash with the security forces.

Wimal Weerawansa addressing the gathering further said, the handing over of the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka to a fully armed terrorist group like the LTTE would tantamount to granting Eelam for them.

He charged that the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was doing his best to make Sri Lanka kneel down in front of the enemy. He said his party would fight with tooth and nail to save the motherland even single handedly
