February 15, 05.20 AM: In a special interview broadcast by the pro-Tamil Tiger “Sandeshaya” of the BBC from Zurich, Switzerland the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), S.P. Thamilchelvan said if the Sinhalese did not want to push their terrorist outfit once again into an armed conflict they should put into power a political party that should be able to fulfill the political intentions of the Tamils.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) according to intelligence reports smuggled in large hauls of heavy military equipments during the two years of Ceasefire with the passive Ranil Wickremesinghe government and publicly refused to disperse the worlds biggest squad of suicide bombers , known as Black Tigers, they continue to maintain.

Referring to the last general elections, in which Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe led United National Front (UNF) won, Thamilchelvan said the Sinhalese used their ballots to install peace on that occasion, obviously referring to the peace agreement they signed with the Prime Minister.

BBC’s “Sandeshaya” flew a reporter to Zurich from London to interview Thamilchelvan who said that he was touring seven European countries to engage in what the news service called “diplomatic” discussions to obtain foreign aid directly to the terrorist outfit, without the interference of the Sri Lanka government. . The interviewer said he was holding the interview in the LTTE office in Zurich, Switzerland.

Speaking through an official LTTE interpreter who translated his statement into Sinhalese the political commissar of the Sri Lanka terrorist outfit said in Tamil that he had a special message to be broadcast to the Sinhalese voters at the coming April 2 General Elections of Sri Lanka and that was that they should put in the saddle of the government who could fulfill the political intentions of the Tamils. He said last General Elections the Sinhalese voters put into power a leadership that could install peace in Sri Lanka, an obvious reference to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Taking back the listeners to what he called the political history of the country, Thamilchelvan claimed that during the first fifty years the Tamils attempted to win their rights through democratic measures. He said in the 1970’s when they decided to secede the government used force on them. He said the government sat with them as equals only when they were able to arm themselves.

He said he wanted to warn the Sinhalese voters not to push the Tamils (he obviously meant the LTTE) to take up arms once again, although they never gave up arms or agreed to decommission arms like in the other conflict resolutions of the world.

He said during his tour to seven European nations, he had explained to many state leaders the necessity of continuing to send direct aid without the interference of the Sri Lanka government until a political settlement was reached. Despite, the LTTE’s maintenance of suicide bombers, European nations entertained Thamilselvan during this tour

The ambition of the terrorist outfit, according to Thamilchelvan, is to receive foreign funds for development work, from which they would not differentiate their military activities. He called those necessities as humanitarian needs.
