INDIA’S CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIONS AND INTERPOL SAY PRABHAKARAN & HIS ASSOCIATE POTTUAMMAN ARE STILL WANTED MEN

July 20.08.05 AM:The Interpol and the Central Bureau of Investigations, India have included the names of Thambiah Pottuamman and Velupillai Prabhakaran of Sri Lanka as most wanted men for crime in their latest list of fugitives issued last month.

The Interpol has included the names and pictures of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and Pottuamman, the close associate and the intelligence Chief of the LTTE leader at the request of the Indian Central Bureau of Investigations.

The Sri Lanka Police, also a member of the Interpol has not requested Prabhakaran or Pottuamman listed as fugitives wanted for arrest. But Prabhakaran is a fugitive wanted for the conviction of the Colombo’s Central Bank bombing that killed hundreds of civilians.

India’s CBI says Pottuamman’s family name is Thambiah and his given name is Pottuamman. According to the Indian police description he is also known as PO and Sivasankar The wanted notice says he was born in 1962 or 1963.

Describing the crime the wanted notice says: “On 21.05.1991 Mr.Rajiv Gandhi was killed by a Bomb as he was accepting Greetings & garlands from people who had gathered to welcome him at a late night meetings in Sriperumbudur, about 50 km from Madras. Investigations have shown that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi's murder was the result of a conspiracy led by Prabhakaran Velupillai,leader of Liberation Tiger of Tamil(LTTE)in Sri Lanka. Pottu Omman,his accomplice, was working closely with him & had arranged to send members of the LTTE to India.”

The wanted notice for Prabhakaran says his family name is Velupillai and the second name used is his given name. But the LTTE for astrological reasons is using the Prabhakaran’s name as Pirapaharan. It is also the pure Tamil form of the Sanskrit name Prabhakaran. The wanted list does not mention Pirapaharan. The wanted notice says Prabhakaran was born on November 26 1954.

Describing the crime he committed the wanted notice said, “Investigations have shown that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi's murder was the result of a conspiracy led by Prabhakaran Velupillai, leader of Liberation Tiger of Tamil(LTTE)in Sri Lanka.”
