August 21.09.30 AM:The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) would vigorously agitate until the administration of Ranil Wickremesinghe was chased out of office said Wimal Weerawansa , Parliamentary Group Leader of the party in an interview with the BBC’s Sandeshaya.
He was speaking about the protest march of the JVP from the city of Galle in Southern Sri Lanka to the Capital City of Colombo from August 25 to August 28 against the UNF government’s proposals for an un-elected LTTE dominated interim Government for the country’s Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka.
‘Let us fight against the conspiracy of the Green, White and Black Tigers to give over the North to the Tigers, the South to the white man and push over the people to the sea,’ would be the theme of the march, the JVP said.
Asked what has happened to the proposed coalition between the country’s biggest opposition party , the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the JVP Weerawansa said still there were few items left to be resolved about the common program of the two parties , and delegates would be meeting on February 27 to resolve the matter. Weerawansa said to take the country on to the correct path, a national coalition of that nature was necessary at this moment and that’s why the JVP was ready to make many sacrifices for the country. He said they expected the others to follow suit and build an unshakeable coalition on a strong foundation of principles to achieve the goal.
The protest March starting from Galle after a break would re-start from Aluthgama .on August 27 and would reach Panadura on the same evening. It would reach Colombo on February 28. The march would end at Lipton Circle to hold a meeting, the JVP said.
Wimal Weerawansa said the JVP would hold such protest marches In Kandy, Raja Rata and in Uva very soon.
Although organized by the JVP, Weerawansa said he appealed to all sections of the society to take part in this national event. He said varied patriotic organizations had expressed their willingness to take part in these marches with the sacred objective of chasing out the Ranil Wickremesinghe administration.
