September 27.10.00AM:While the European Union, who call themselves the guardians of human rights of the world, removed Sri Lanka’s Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) from the list of terrorists of the world, the LTTE, a “fascist terrorist group” continued with the exterminations of their political rivals, by killing another political opponent exactly 14 days after the name removal on September 12.
Velupillai Yogendran (35), a father of two children was gunned down by LTTE gunman at Pandirippu while he was on his way to a grocery stores from his home, the Police reported. He was a member of the EPRLF and was ordered to be killed by Velupillai Prabhakaran in a series of assassinations ordered by the hierarchy of the LTTE terrorist group before they achieved the interim government from the Ranil Wickremesinghe government, Tamil political sources said.
The victim of the LTTE had two gun shot injuries on his head the police report said. An active member of the EPRLF before he left for employment in the Middle East, the deceased Yogendran worked as a lab assistant after his return, the police reports said.
Although the terrorists of the LTTE have committed dozens of assassinations, ending the lives of members of the EPRLF, EPDP and PLOT, former guerilla groups who have opted to be in a democratic way of life believing in multi-party politics, the LTTE has continued to kill them. The Norway backed SLMM who are accused of being partial to the LTTE by the country’s opposition have been accused of being silent about these assassinations.
Sri Lanka’s leading English daily, the Island , in an editorial entitled “European duplicity and perfidy” said, “Has the LTTE ceased its acts of terrorism? True, since the cease-fire came into effect 20 months ago there has been no direct-armed conflict between the Sri Lanka government security forces and the LTTE but the continuous killing of the security forces intelligence personnel, members of Tamil groups opposed to the LTTE such as those from the EPDP, EPRLF and PLOTE have continued. These acts of terrorism have been taken cognizance of by the Norwegian Monitoring Mission, foreign powers such as the United States and human rights organizations such as Amnesty International. The abduction of children into baby brigades as military combatants have led to worldwide protests by organizations of the United Nations. The smuggling of arms and build up of terrorists camps in violation of the Cease-fire Agreement have been objected to by many nations of the to so called international community.”
The newspaper has accused Norway to be the cause for the removal of the name from the list of terrorists. The Island said, “If then what was the logic behind this move of the European Union? What is most exasperating is that Norway, the so-called peace facilitator has supported this move! Is this the sop for the terrorists to resume ‘peace negotiations’?”
Demanding an explanation from the European Union, who are accused of secretly supporting the division of the country for commercial interests the newspaper said, “Sri Lanka’s national interests demands that representatives of the European Union provide a clear cut answer for this attempt to whitewash terrorists who have been splattered with blood of the innocents for over 20 years.”
The newspaper also demanded the expulsion of Norwegians as peace brokers of Sri Lanka: “As a first move, it is time that this Norwegian ‘peace makers’ were thrown out of this country into the Indian Ocean— every one of them. If the president and prime minister are not willing to do so, it is time the people made them do so, for the survival of this nation.”
